Portpatrick is one of Scotland's finest old fishing harbours that has been transformed into  a wonderful and tranquil destination for those looking for a special holiday soaking up the athmosphere of the sea and shore. It was and still is a link to Ireland, as heard in the soft accent of the locals and yet is very much a Scottish coastal town. Set around the picturesque harbour looking out to the sea, are a miriad array of eateries and craft shops so that every day of your stay you can dine in style a different restaurants and wander through the small streets seeking the artisan crafts of the region. Portpatrick - on the doorstep
Portpatrick is one of the most attractive coastal villages in Scotland. It is charming, interesting, beautiful and has something for everyone. Portpatrick has much to offer the visitor; friendly restaurants and bars, stunning sunsets, angling, boat charters, local-stocked shops, cliff top walks, two golf courses. The nearby Dunskey Gardens will delight the horticulturist with its walled garden, woods & tearoom. The Southern Upland Way also starts & ends at Portpatrick.

In particular the coastal paths north or south of the village to the ruins of Dunsky Castle is fabulous, or north up to Dunsky Gardens with a stop off to the tearoom and back to the village is also terrific.

A wealth of activities are available in this lovely area. The cottage is situated metres from the start of the Southern Upland Way and provides an ideal base for walking, bird watching, salmon and trout fishing, golfing on the local course.
